Whether it’s sailing, powerboating or paddling, boats are big business in southeastern North Carolina. From commercial fisherman, to charter cruisers and recreational boaters, the demand for quality watercraft is strong. The companies and craftsman that build and maintain watercraft are always in need of employees with the right skills.

CFCC offers two hands-on programs that cover nearly every aspect of boatbuilding and are taught by experienced professional boat builders. The college offers a traditional wooden boatbuilding program, which gives students a wide variety of skills in carpentry and woodworking while building a full size boat from scratch. CFCC also offers a boat manufacture and service program, which includes modern techniques in fiberglass and composite boat construction along with marine electronics, plumbing systems, painting, finishes and rigging.

Each program lasts three semesters and is held on the Cape Fear River in historic downtown Wilmington.  The college also offers an evening program. For more details, visit http://cfcc.edu/martech/boat-building-school/ or call (910) 362-7445.
